The Texas Gay Rodeo Association has been busting stereotypes with love (and a little bit of glitter) since 1983. In November 1984, the inaugural Texas Gay Rodeo went down in Houston. Alexis and Chicken Nugget have both decided to go the entertainment route. “When my ex and I broke up, I moved in with Boogie and his partner Tim,” he says.
There are many areas of TGRA and degrees of involvement available to its members.
He grew up in a tiny town called Callisburg (population 350) in North Texas, near the Oklahoma border. TGRA is a member of the International Gay Rodeo Association, which is the overlord of all the gay rodeos.
Last year Chicken Nugget attended all 13 of the rodeos on the IGRA circuit.

IGRA Finals Rodeo is held in October of each year. For many spectators, the show was not only a thrilling display of horsemanship and rodeo skills but also an important step towards greater inclusivity and acceptance in the traditionally conservative world of rodeo.
NBC 5's photojournalist Kennedy DeRaedt spoke with cowboys, cowgirls, and rodeo enthusiasts who have been involved with the show for years.
Wade Earp has been a member of TGRA for over 30 years.
