No matter how you identify, you’ll feel right at home in Chicago. The foundation serves as a nationwide resource and platform for LGBTQIA+ individuals in the food industry, aiming to acknowledge, celebrate, and honor queer food workers and chefs.

Audrey has worked in pit orchestras at venues including the Cadillac Palace, Nederlander, CIBC, and Mariott Theatres, and more recently has performed with The Who on their Moving On! Tour in 2019. Her shop caters to both late-night sweet tooths and pre-planned, custom orders.

What were we to do? Most recently, Kann was named the James Beard Awards 2023 Best New Restaurant—and the Pan-Caribbean food and drink of his latest restaurant, Sousol, earned the top spot on the best bar list by Esquire that same year. An openly gay and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, he works hard to ensure his restaurants are safe spaces for his teammates—never wanting anyone to feel their identity is not respected in the workplace.

A Swedish breakfast restaurant owned by former Ald.

On Clark Street, you’ll find a stretch of locally owned restaurants and bars that always bustling with visitors and locals. Go quietly into the night?

Shop local in Andersonville

Andersonville is known for its deep Swedish roots, array of eclectic independent businesses, and their welcoming, diverse LGBTQ+ community.

Women & Children First is where Andersonville’s “shop local” ethos and progressive inclusivity intersect.

While his focus has been staying true to himself—Young receives messages of gratitude from people who felt comfortable coming out because of him. It was much needed and the only way we could move forward.

So, we are trying for Landmark status to ensconce the building in protection from high rolling developers. Our city is known for embracing diversity and inclusion, from our world-famous Pride celebrations to establishing the country’s first official LGBTQ+ neighborhood.
