Also of interest is the West Kaua’i Technology & Visitor Center, where you can learn much about the island’s history. Farther west along the coast is Waimea Town, which is near where the famed explorer, Captain James Cook, first landed on the Hawaiian islands. Enjoy the Kona scenery and relax comfortably at this great spot. 

  • Kehena Beach: This beautiful beach is secluded and is known as a nude beach that’s popular with gay men.

    It is the most populous region of Kaua’i. Masterfully executed.

    • Makana Terrace

    St. Heading west from along the north coast of the island, you’ll reach Kilauea, where the famous Kilauea Lighthouse stands aloft overlooking the sea. But it does offer opportunities for mixing and mingling.

    Here, hikers can embark on the infamous Kalalau Trail. A statue of Cook, modeled on an original from Whitby, England, stands in the center of town. The famed Waimea Canyon, known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” offers expansive views and impressive landscapes.

    Kauai’s beaches offer relaxation and fun, particularly for the LGBT community. The Canyon Trail takes hikers to breathtaking viewpoints and down to winding streams.

    Stay, Play, and Eat at Poipu Resort

    The Poipu Beach Resort area, located on Kauai’s sunny southern shore, is perfect for visitors seeking both relaxation and adventure.

    Between Kapa’a and Lihue, just south of Wailua, is Lydgate State Park, where you’ll find one of Kauai’s gay-friendly beaches. Another cool thing that sets this apart from other gay beaches? Or are you looking for a place where you can feel comfortable while soaking up the sun? Inland, north of Waimea, is the gorgeous Waimea Canyon, known as the ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific.’ Though not as large or as ancient as Arizona’s Grand Canyon, Waimea Canyon presents 14 miles of extraordinary vistas unlike anything else in Hawai’i.

    Nudity is common here on weekdays, and it’s a great place to snorkel, swim, and maybe even meet new people.
