Many companies say they welcome LGBT travelers or hang a rainbow flag during Pride month. However, being such a large city means you are guaranteed to find plenty of gay hotels in Los Angeles to suit your needs.
And by ‘gay hotels in Los Angeles’, I mean those I have experienced, brands that make extra effort for the gay community or that have the Travel Proud accreditation from Booking.com – unfortunately there is no exclusively gay hotels here in LA.
Los Angeles is huge – I have heard it referred to being as large as a small country!

Being downtown, there are plenty of restaurants, bars, galleries, and museums within easy reach of the hotel, but should you wish to eat onsite, there are two restaurants and three bars to choose from.
And after a long day exploring LA, you can return and jump in the outdoor pool to relax and refresh!

Keep reading to find out which hotel brands go beyond a Pride month post and truly support LGBT travelers around the globe! Axel Hotels is a good example of a gay-themed hotel. The boards helps the hotel brand understand our community’s needs, implement inclusive policies at their properties, and provide staff with on-the-ground training, so they can make all travelers feel welcome.
MGM
MGM Resorts International partners with LGBTQ organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign and GLSEN.
In fact, MGM helped found the Las Vegas chapter of the Human Rights Campaign back in 2004, at a time when few brands were outwardly partnering with the LGBTQ community.
They’ve donated to LGBTQ causes throughout the years, helping to build a new LGBT community center in Nevada and donating for marriage equality campaigns in LGBTQ friendly states like Maryland.
Like many of the LGBTQ friendly airlines in the US, the hotel brand looks for ways to partner with diverse suppliers including LGBTQ-owned businesses!
They are often in or near gay neighborhoods, providing quick access to dining and gay nightlife options.

LGBTQ* Luxury Hotels Adults Only Men Only
PHIL HOLLISTER`s Queer Hotel Guide presents luxurious and stylish accommodation and is primarily aimed at the internationally sophisticated LGBTQ* travel community.
The majority of luxury hotels and high star accommodations are located in selected hot spots of the gay community.
AC Hotel by Marriott
Marriott is another brand that is doing right by the LGBTQ+ community, so of course we had to include their Beverly Hills property.
The AC Hotel by Marriott is also booking.com “Travel Proud” certified, so LGBTQ+ guests can be doubly sure they will be welcomed!
AC Hotel also has some great little touches too such as free bikes, a perfect way to explore a city that is otherwise a little tricky to navigate.

Gay Friendly Hotels in Los Angeles – Downtown Los Angeles
Downtown Los Angeles is a little more commercial than other areas, and so wouldn’t necessarily be the first choice to base yourself – especially given that most of LAs gay scene is found in and around West Hollywood which is not really very near to downtown.
That being said, there are still some gay friendly hotels located in downtown LA, and so depending on your reason for visiting LA, these may be a good option for you.

When traveling to one of these so-called riskier destinations, a safe hotel isn’t just nice to have, it’s essential for our peace of mind.
Belmond was one of the first hotels to create an LGBT advisory board, composed of gay travel agents, tour providers, and activists for LGBT friendly travel. While the concept of a gay hotel varies depending on the destination and property owner, the one thing they all have in common is a vision of creating a safe space where LGBTQ+ people can be themselves in the company of other LGBTQ+ guests.
On just about any trip you take, you’ll likely spend more time at your hotel than at any other tour, activity, or experience.
Hilton
Hilton is a great place to work if you’re LGBTQ, with inclusive benefits like adoption assistance benefits of up to $10,000 per child, a policy that helps all employees plan heir families, but is especially beloved by same-sex employees that have to get creative when planning their families.
Hilton partners with global LGBTQ+ organizations like IGLTA and the Matthew Shepard Foundation, and also nabs a perfect score on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index.
The hotel brand launched a marketing campaign geared toward gay travelers in 2012, called “Stay Hilton.
This could include a gay friendly/family resort in Mexico or an adults-only hotel in the Caribbean. Go Out,” with a special package available at 175 Hilton properties. Mosaic Hotel Beverly Hills
Mosaic Hotel is located just minutes from the world famous and iconic Rodeo Drive, making it an ideal choice for those travellers looking to indulge in some retail therapy.
A small boutique hotel with just 49 rooms, the décor is still stylish and contemporary.
This post highlights seven hotel brands that go out of their way to make gay and lesbian travelers feel welcome.
As a queer traveler, I’ve experienced the discomfort of checking into a hotel and being offered a room with two beds when I’d clearly booked one.
It’s a small interaction, but it can feel alienating—like a subtle reminder that queer couples don’t fit the “default” mold.
You can also find gay-owned hotels in some destinations or even hotels designed for the LGBTQ+ community, such as gay-themed hotels or gay resorts. I always do this to save time, then book direct when I’m ready! Be sure to review the amenities to see what’s most important to you.
Montrose at Beverly Hills
I have included the hotel in this section as despite the name the hotel is located within one of the neighbourhoods of West Hollywood City, but it is just a 5-minute drive from Beverly Hills, and less than a mile from the Sunset Strip.
The hotel has a beautiful rooftop terrace, complete with pool, poolside cabanas, a pool bar and even a rooftop tennis court!
All the rooms at Montrose are suites, and they have all been recently revamped for an ultra-luxury stay.
