To me, Viktor was always asexual, and that was always something we talked about from the very beginning.
Riot’s League of Legends adaptation Arcane has officially come to an end, but the series is still generating buzz as viewers unpack how the series ended things with its main characters.
According to a translation by Reddit user Flirefy, Linke supposedly spoke with LGBTQIA+ Rioters before the creation of Arcane about how asexuality is often lacking in representation in media.
Linke then supposedly claims that the Arcane team has always seen Viktor as asexual, and that his love for Jayce is just on a different level than a typical romance.
LINKE: I don't think she ever thought that she could control Viktor, but more that she can benefit from what he wants, you know?
My other question was about Ambessa's turn. He's my fave. Before you get too sad, series co-creator Christian Linke previously revealed that we can expect to see new series set in the same world.
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to talk to Linke once again, this time after having watched the series finale.
But really, the importance about that moment is that it's the moment where Jinx finally does the thing that the big sister would do. The whole arc that she has in Season 2 through Isha is about growing up and being responsible for someone else, and, I don't know, just growing past this chip on her shoulder she's always had being the little bumbling sister.
Linke said during Arcane’s official after-show that the final episode was Jayce and Viktor’s end, seemingly putting a definitive cap on the duo’s story. There is a love. Viktor loves in a different way.”
The creator added that Viktor’s sexuality was something debated within LGBTQ+ circles at Riot, with many members saying asexuality was something that they had often not seen depicted properly.

Is Jinx Actually Dead? What was interesting, I remember many, many years ago also thinking about this when we started developing these characters. I cried quite a bit.
CHRISTIAN LINKE: Oh, I apologize.
Especially in the seventh episode. I'm just like, please play him.
