Lee Daniels
Long before directing movies like "Precious" or co-creating Fox's "Empire," Lee Daniels was a young gay man coming to terms with his homosexuality while growing up in Philadelphia. Back in the days of the Hays Code from the 1930s to the 1960s, movies depicting gay love interests were censored by studios.
Helping to change that is former NBA player Jason Collins, who became the first openly gay man to play in one of the four major professional team sports.
