There’s going to be lots of new music this year! Chappell Roan certainly is at the forefront, carrying the torch, at this precise moment, sometimes even in cute, bespoke armor, but there are plenty more queer singer-songwriters coming up from the wings including one, Jade LeMac, a West Coast Canadian who is forging her own cool, queer path with songs for everyone.

Who would be your dream artist to go on tour with?\
I’ve been saying recently how much I love Finneas. When “Constellations” came out, I definitely wanted to transition into being seen as an artist.
There have been times when it’s been difficult to stay consistent. I also love Billie [Eilish], and Kehlani, of course.
I read that you grew up singing karaoke with your cousins.
I think this is going to be my most cohesive EP.

Q&A: Jade LeMac Is Ready to Break Her Own Rules
LUNA: Since you were on tour during its release,how was the immediate audience reaction ““Sleeping With The Lights On” at first?
JADE LEMAC: It was good!
Does the melody come first? It’s a huge part of who I am and I don’t really think too much about making sure it comes across in my music and visuals because I don’t have to. I kind of just wrote from more experience and stuff like that.

Tell us about this EP.
Why did you choose Confessions as a title? The audience was awesome.
She had no idea that her down-to-earth sense of humor and openness about her LGBTQ identity would resonate with so many people—but her videos instantly found the right audience, giving her the opportunity to share her passion for music with the world. I feel like I thrive a lot like that.
LUNA: Sonically, how do you feel like your new songs are going to change?
At the beginning, I had more of an LGBTQ community following and that’s kind of what I started my TikTok about. I remember searching and trying to find new queer artists and it's still kind of difficult. Sometimes I try to force it and then nothing happens. What’s your go-to karaoke song?
